So, Humans were polluting the earth.
Over and over again, so they decided "We need to find another way, its too dangerous this way.". They spent months, years, decades thinking. Then, it came, "What if we use energy directly from the Sun? Solar panels won't do."
So they spent even more decades building the right machine, and when they finally finished. "This is magnificent!" they thought. "We'll just shut it off in a couple of years and we have enough power to last forever!"
And they waited a couple of years. But, they forgot about the machine. It was too late when they noticed. Its up to you to save the dying sun now, and power off the machine. The entire population thinks "Its too late, were dead."
But you know...its never too late. You have 5 days to save the Sun. You must act NOW.
